Adrian Mannarino v Kei Nishikori Head to Head

The two have played each other once before at the Paris Masters in 2018, with the Japanese player winning on that occasion in straight sets.

Mannarino, an Indifferent Year to Date

Mannarino has had an indifferent year so far. He failed to get beyond the first round in either Doha or Sydney, lost to Kevin Anderson in Melbourne, and then suffered more first round disappointment in Sofia and New York. He did though get to the quarter-finals in Delray Beach before losing to John Isner, and then had the misfortue to come up against the same opponent in Acapulco.

However, he did manage to defeat American Tennys Sandgre in his first round match here on Saturday,a nd has good form on hard courts – all but one of his 13 titles won on the Challenger Tour came on this surface.

Nishikori – Looking for Consistency

The number six seed is looking for consistency this year. 2019 started well for the Japanese player, as he won his 12th ATP senior title in Doha, and then he got to the quarter-final in Melbourne, before he was forced to retire from his match with Novak Djokovic due to injury.

However, despite being the number one seed for both of his next two tournaments – in Rotterdam and Dubai – both ended early in disappointment for the 29-year old. He was beaten by Stan Wawrinka in the semi-final in Rotterdam, whilst he was shocked in the round of sixteen by Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, ranked 67 in the world.

Kei Nishikori v Mannarino Predictions & Tips

Nishikori will start heavy favourite for the match at 2/9 with Mannarino priced at 37/10 (bet365) . Whilst the World number six suffered a surprise loss to a player with a similar ranking to Mannarino in Dubai, it is hard to see lightning to strike twice.

Tip: Nishikori to win 2-0: 4/5 (Unibet)
