Milos Raonic v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head

The two gents have met only twice on the tour and the score is currently tied at 1-1. They most recently met in Dubai earlier this year and Struff, in a brilliant fashion and rhythm, won that match in three sets.

Struff Looking to Make Some Gains

The 28-year-old German is heading into this fixture on the back of one of the most impressive victories of his career. In the third round, he defeated the number 3 seed Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-1.

He doled out 9 aces and won an astounding 89% of his first service points. Struff also managed to convert four break points to get that well-deserved victory. He had a similar run in the previous rounds too against John Millman and Ricardas Berankis.

This is only the second time this year that Struff has had a run like this. He last had a run like this in Auckland, where he made it as far as the semifinal. Between then and now, he failed to move past the early rounds in all the tournaments he played in.

Raonic Hoping to Maintain His Indian Wells Record

Since 2014, Milos Raonic has made it to the quarterfinal and beyond in Indian Wells. The only exception to this came in 2017 when he missed the tournament due to injury. The Canadian was also the runner-up here in 2016 when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final.

Considering his season so far, it hasn’t been that exciting although, he has been slowly moving up in the rankings. He started off well with a quarterfinal run in Brisbane and Melbourne but thereafter, his form dropped slightly. In Rotterdam and Dubai, he lost early to Stan Wawrinka and Struff respectively.

Throughout his campaign in Indian Wells this season, Raonic has been quite comfortable. In the previous round, however, he did face some difficulty against the Canadian qualifier Marcos Giron but managed to beat him 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Milos Raonic v Jan-Lennard Struff Predictions & Tips

Considering Struff’s recent win over Zverev, he will certainly fancy beating Raonic – especially given that he has already done this once not so long ago. On Raonic’s part, he will have to stay focussed and not commit many unforced errors to give Struff any kind of advantage. Expect this one to be a three-setter with Raonic to win.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 27/20 (Unibet)
