Cameron Norrie v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
The pair have met once before on the ATP senior tour, in the first round of the US Open last year, when Norrie got past the Australian in four sets, They also met on the Challenger tour in 2017, in Bingham, New York, and again Norrie triumphed on that occasion, emerging victorious after three sets.
Norrie, on the Verge of the World’s Top 50
Norrie is on the verge of breaking into the world’s top 50 for the first time which, if he does so, will make him the first British player to achieve that feat having gone to college in the United States first. His progress this year has been powered by reaching the final in Auckland, and by a semi-final appearance in Mexico.
However, his interest in Indian Wells was ended in the first round by Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime, so he will be hoping to do better in Miami.
Thompson, Solid but Limited Performer
Thompso is a solid performer in his own right, but has done little to suggest that he is ready to progress to the next level in the sport, His 2019 record includes two quarter-finals – in New York and Sydney – but, when he comes up against a player in the top thirty, he almost invariably loses.
However, he did, at least, go further than his opponent on Tuesday in Indian Wells, beating Federico Delbonnis of Argentina in the first round, before coming up against the eventual winner of the tournament in Dominic Thiem in his next match in the desert.

Norrie will start odds-on favourite for the match at 29/50, whilst Thompson is priced at 32/25 (bet365) . This seems reasonable given their head-to-head record and Norrie’s superior world ranking, but, like their previous matches, this will probably be a close encounter.
