Novak Djokovic v Federico Delbonis Head to Head

The two players have never met on the ATP circuit. However, it must be added here that Delbonis has career wins over Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka which should hold him in a good stead going into this one.

Djokovic Hopes to Continue Strong Start

World number one Novak Djokovic’s Miami campaign got off to a solid start with a convincing straight set win over Australian Bernard Tomic. Six time Miami Open winner Djokovic got the start he wanted after a disappointing early loss last week at the Indian Wells Masters.

Djokovic had a tricky first set but then rode home the advantage with his superb returning and exceptional ability to defend with depth. The Serb is tied with Andre Agassi with six Miami Open titles and will be looking for a record seventh title.

With key rivals Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin delPotro, withdrawing due to injury, and key contenders Dominic Thiem, and Marin Cilic already eliminated, Djokovic’s favorite tag continues to get stronger.

Delbonis Looking to Put up a Fight

Hard-hitting Argentine left hander Federico Delbonis has had a good start to the Miami Open with victories over Peter Gojowczyk and John Millman. Delbonis was ranked as high as number 33 in the world in 2016, winning two ATP titles in the same year.

However, the levels attained in 2016 were not to be repeated in 2017 and 2018, with Delbonis dropping out of the top 100 and primarily playing ATP challenger titles. Delbonis is a clay-court specialist with a lot of promise, but his career results have not always lived up to his potential.

Novak Djokovic v Federico Delbonis Predictions & Tips

Delbonis has a good all court game and being a left-hander with a strong forehand, has caused problems for players in the past. However, Djokovic will not give him the time and space he likes on the court. Expect Delbonis to put up a good show, but Djokovic to win in straight sets

Tip: Under 18.5 games in the match: 1/1 (bet365)
