Nick Kyrgios v Dusan Lajovic Head to Head

Interestingly, their only previous match came at the Miami Masters itself, last year, and Kyrgios was rather dismissive in his 6-4, 6-1 win over his Serbian opponent. He had gone on to make the fourth round of that tournament before getting knocked out himself

Can Nick Kyrgios Maintain his Calm?

A lot was expected from Kyrgios after the kind of start he had to his career and given the number of matches he has won against some of the top players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. However, things haven’t gone to script and his best singles ranking of number 13 is yet to be usurped by the Aussie.

And speaking of the story of his career so far, the last two tournaments he has participated in speak volumes. At Acapulco, he won three three-setters in a row including registering wins over Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and John Isner before crushing Alexander Zverev in the final to win the title.

Then, at the Indian Wells Masters, he lost to Philipp Kohlschreiber, bringing a touch of unsurprising anti-climax to his run.

He did not have it very straightforward in his second round win over Alexander Bublik, getting past him 7-5, 6-3 but he will relish the straight-setter.

Chance for a Season-Best for Dusan Lajovic

Before this tournament, Lajovic last won back to back matches this season in Doha. Incidentally that was the first ever tournament he played this year, and it was followed by seven successive competitions in which he failed to register more than a win – there were five round one defeats as well.

He did make it to the second round at the Indian Wells Masters but he has gone one better here with wins over Pablo Cuevas and a stunning one against Kei Nishikori. Nishikori was a break up in the final set but went down to the Serb, who will now hope for a similar showing against an opponent who most know can blow hot and cold on a day.

Nick Kyrgios v Dusan Lajovic Predictions & Tips

Revenge will be on Lajovic’s mind going into this one but even he will know that if Kyrgios can battle his own demons, the Serb might not have much of a chance against him. That said, there is every possibility that Lajovic will stretch the Aussie like was the case against Nishikori, and we are expecting this to go the distance.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 13/8 (William Hill)
