What is the Ultimate Tennis Showdown Tournament?

Mouratoglou, Serena Williams’ coach is one of the mastermind of this event and he revealed the reason behind the formation of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, or UTS for short, was out of the desire for tennis to reinvent itself as a younger fan’s sport.

According to Mouratoglou, tennis was left behind over the past decade without having shown a desire to change and with the average age of a tennis fan at 61, things could get more difficult as the years rolled on.

And while the Ultimate Tennis Showdown will be an exhibition tennis tournament, the biggest change for fans will be the rule which would allow a player to express themselves on the court. There will be no code violation penalties for breaking one’s racquet one assumes, for example.

Interestingly, every match will be associated with some prize money with the winner taking away 70% of that and the loser getting the rest.

The tournament will be played at the Patrick Mouratoglou Academy at the French Riviera.
