2020 WTA Hobart International Tennis Schedule & Dates
The Hobart International Tennis competition is usually played in the second week of January, just prior to the Australian Open and that’s how it will be this time too. The tournament main begins on January 13 and it will go all the way up to January 18, with the women’s singles final to be played that day. The qualifying rounds will mostly kick-start on January 10 but will update with the exact dates before the start of the tournament.

What Happened at the 2019 WTA Hobart International Tennis?
Sofia Kenin won her first ever WTA title and kick-started a brilliant run of form that saw her rise to the top 20 in the WTA rankings by the end of the season. Kenin clinched the title without dropping a single set in the entire tournament, beating fellow unseeded player Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in straight sets. The two finalists had got past Alize Cornet and Belinda Bencic respectively in the previous round.
Elise Mertens won the Hobart International title in 2018 after having clinched it in 2017 as well, making it two victories in a row. She defeated Romanian Mihaela Buzărnescu in the final to make it her second title, after having defeated Monica Niculescu in the final in 2017.
Lesia Tsurenko, another seed in the tournament last year, made it to the semi-final as well but none of the other seeded players and that list includes players like Zhang Shuai, Alize Cornet, Sorana Cirstea, Tatjana Maria, Irina-Camelia Begu and Katerina Siniakova were able to get to that stage.
Heather Watson was the other semi-finalist in last year’s competition.
