In what will be good news for all his fans, Swiss maestro Roger Federer has announced he will be featuring in the Hopman Cup earlier next year.
Federer will join fellow Swiss women’s player Belinda Bencic at the 2018 Hopman Cup that will be played in the month of January in the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Also returning to the fold will be Japan who will be playing in their first ever Hopman Cup in 16 years. The Hopman Cup is a mixed team event and was first played in 1989 in Perth. It is hosted by the Perth Arena since 2012.

Federer had represented Switzerland in the Hopman Cup last year and then won the 2017 Australian Open and Wimbledon later in the year. He would want a continuation of that record in the upcoming season as well as he looks to add to his 19 Grand Slam singles titles.
Others to have agreed to feature in the 2018 Hopman Cup include the two-time Grand Slam singles champion Angelique Kerber and ATP No. 4 Alexander Zverev, both of whom will get together for Germany.
Japan will be represented by Yuichi Sugita and Naomi Osaka and Australia will have Daria Gavrilova and Thanasi Kokkinakis playing for them.
The competition that begins on December 30 and will have its final played on January 6 will see United States, Russia, Belgium and Canada participate in it.
