Dan Evans overcame a set deficit to beat Andy Murray in the semifinals of the Battle of the Brits while Team Kindness are still in with a chance to win the Charleston Invitational exhibition tournament but Team Peace are very much in the pole position.
Evans Fights Back to Thwart Murray’s Advances
British number one Evans overcame a shaky start against Murray before winning 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 and advance to the final of the Battle of the Brits. Played to an empty stadium in Roehmapton, Murray was off to a flying start but once Evans settled in, the encounter assumed more even proportions.
Interestingly, while Evans went on to win the encounter, it was the first set which those watching and Murray himself will remember. Especially when he needs to take confidence into the rest of the year.
Murray was off to a flier in the opening set, so much so, his coach Jamie Delgado said:
“He’s played a fantastic set of tennis. It’s the best set of tennis I’ve seen him play for a long time.”
Evans will now take on Kyle Edmund in the final.

In the other semifinal, British number two Kyle Edmund defeated Cameron Norrie, also in a tough three-setter to enter the final.
Edmund, who had topped his group by beating Murray in the group stages of the competition, went down in the first set tie-breaker before winning the next two including the match tie-breaker 10-8.
The doubles final saw Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski overcome Dan Evans and Lloyd Glasspool 0-6, 6-2, 10-6.

Team Peace Lead 20-13
The Bethanie Mattek-Sands-led Team Peace continued on their blistering ways to take a 21-13 lead in the Credit One Bank Invitational on Saturday. And they were helped by Jennifer Brady in getting there after the American won her third match of the tournament.
And while Madison Keys defeated Sofia Kenin to pull one back and allow Team Kindness a chance on Sunday, they will need to win four of the remaining five matches to win the title.
This includes a match between Mattek-Sands and Shelby Rogers, which if the former wins, would mean Team Kindness will have to go four in a row.
