Caroline Garcia v Anett Kontaveit Head to Head

The two players have met only once on the WTA Tour and that meeting took place in the 2016 Luxembourg Open. Garcia, led by an inspired form, defeated the Estonian in three sets.

Garcia Riding the Fed Cup Wave

Despite a disappointing spell so far this season, Garcia has several reasons to be happy about. In Normandy last weekend, she, along with Kristina Mladenovic, defeated the top favourites Romania in a thrilling encounter with 3-2.

The Frenchwoman won her singles tie against Mihaela Buzarnescu, with Simona Halep quickly fighting back to make score 2-1. Following a splendid run by Pauline Parmentier, it all came down to the doubles match between Garcia and Mladenovic, and Halep and Niculescu.

The hosts prevailed in an incredible three-set affair with Garcia playing a significant role in that affair. This will undoubtedly be the highlight of her season so far, given that she lost early in most of the tournaments she featured in.

Her best run came in the Miami Open where she reached the fourth round after upsetting Victoria Azarenka and Julia Goerges.

Kontaveit, Having a Great Time on the Tour

The 23-year-old Estonian had a superb run in the Miami Open. She reached the semifinal there on the back of a scintillating performance – her best one of the year. Courtesy of that run, she achieved her career-best singles ranking as the World No. 14.

The 2018 Wuhan Open runner-up made waves last season by reaching the semifinal right here in Stuttgart and in Rome. She is pegged as one of the rising stars on the tour and it is only a matter of time before she clinches a big tournament.

Apart from Miami, she also reached the fourth round in Indian Wells. She is a quick player around the baseline and can very well perform on clay.

Kontaveit v Garcia Predictions & Tips

The Estonian has had a much better spell on the tour this season in comparison to Garcia. She is also in a superior form, making her the odds-on favourite to win this encounter. Meanwhile, Garcia can possibly gather some confidence and inspiration from her recent Fed Cup feat and give Kontaveit a good fight.

Tip: Kontaveit to win: 3/4 (Unibet)
