Marco Cecchinato v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head

The two men have played each other twice before in 2018, with the Hungarian winning in straight sets on both occasions. Their last meeting came in Beijing, whilst their first encounter came in this tournament a year ago.

Cecchinato, a 2018 Roland Garros Semi-Finalist

A semi-finalist at Roland Garros last year, Cecchinato has already enjoyed success on clay this year, winning his third senior ATP career title in Buenos Aires. That was added to the two titles he won on clay last year, in Hungary and Croatia.

His events since then have not demonstrated the same performance levels, and despite a morale boosting win over Stan Wawrinka in Monte Carlo, he lost in the third round to Guido Pella.

However, he got his campaign in Bavaria off to a good start with a routine win over Martin Klizman of Slovakia and combined with that title win on clay earlier this year – the third of his career – should give the Italian a good boost going into this encounter.

Fucsovics, Battled Through to Quarter-Finals

Fucsovics also has a clay court success in recent memory on his CV, having won the Geneva Open last May. That took its place alongside the two clay titles he won on the junior tours in China and Italy.

He came into the European clay court season after a reasonable start to the year on hard courts – a final in Sofia, and quarter final appearances in both Rotterdam and Dubai.

However, he has had to work very hard this week to get to this stage. Qualifier Lorenzo Sonego pushed him all the way in the first round, and he only survived by clinching a tense third set tie breaker. The good news, however, is this is the first time this year, he has won two successive matches on clay.

Cecchinato v Fucsovics Predictions & Tips
