Kerber on a Four-Match Skid

World no. 19 Angelique Kerber has a woeful 2-7 record this season.

The only tournament where she won matches this year was the Indian Wells Open, where she defeated Qinwen Zheng and Daria Kasatkina before falling to Iga Swiatek in the Round of 16.

The German lost in the opening rounds of every other tournament, which includes the Australian Open, Qatar Open, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open and the Italian Open. She suffered her latest defeat to Coco Gauff in Rome.

A 13-time tour-level champion and 18-time finalist, the German will be making her second appearance in Strasbourg. She is yet to reach the second round.

While clay remains her weakest surface, the 34-year-old still has a 56% win record on the surface and is 3-1 in clay court finals.

Kerber will be looking to end her losing streak by making a solid start in the tournament.

Parry Has Been Inconsistent in 2022

Facing Kerber will be Wold no. 96 Diane Parry of France.

Parry, who featured in two WTA 125K finals in November last year, had finished runner-up in Buenos Aires but won the title in Montevideo.

She has not had a great 2022 so far, winning consecutive matches just once, in the qualifying rounds in Monterrey. In her most recent tournaments, Parry finished with one victory and one loss in the WTA 125K events in Saint Malo and Paris.

Ranked No. 96th in the world, Parry has won four ITF titles, all on clay, with three of them coming last year.

She will be eager to make an impressive start in front of the home crowds.

Kerber v Parry Prediction and Tip

Kerber’s form has been worrisome this season. The German will be desperate to make a brisk start and get into a good rhythm ahead of the French Open. Expect the  three-time Grand Slam champion to advance, but the Frenchwoman won’t go down without a fight.

Tip: Kerber to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
