Maryna Zanevska v Harmony Tan Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 28 year old Belgian, and the Frenchwoman, who is four years younger.

Zanevska Knocks Out Chinese Seed

Zanevska broke into the top 100 for the first time at the end of 2021, and has continued to progress up the rankings in 2022.

And her standing within the game would have been done no harm by her first round victory in Strasbourg on Monday over the world number 41, Shuai Zhang of China, the fifth seed.

Zanevska was the first to drop her serve, but then reeled off six games in a row to take the first set.

The opening three games of the second set went against serve but, at the end of that sequence, the Belgian found herself a break up.

Zhang had a break point io level things up, could not take it, and soon was another break down.

Zanevska had a brief blip when she dropped her serve serving for the match, but the setback was only temporary, as she sealed the win next game with another break.

Tan Downs Australian Veteran

Tan helped fly the French flag in Strasbourg with an easy win over the Australian veteran Samantha Stosur, who is now 38 and ranked a lowly 490th in the world.

It was the first match for the winner of the 2011 US Open since the Australian Open and she was understandably rusty, especially on clay, which has never been her favourite surface anyway.

The first three games went with serve, but then Stosur was broken twice. She managed to recover one of the breaks, but promptly dropped her serve again, and Tan could claim the first set.

Stosur had brief hope when she broken Tan in the first game of the second set. But it proved also entirely illusory, as Tan won the next six.

Zanevska v Tan Prediction and Tip

Tan has home advantage, but having beaten Zhang, Zanevska will be full of confidence and believe she can go further in this tournament.
