Karolina Pliskova v Kaja Juvan Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Pliskova Finds her Rhythm in Time

Karolina Pliskova seems to be returning to form just in time for the French Open as the World No. 8 moved into the semifinal of the Strasbourg Open with a straight-set win over Maryna Zanveska in the quarterfinal.

The top seed, who missed the early part of the season due to a hand injury, had come into the tournament with a 2-6 record. But with three wins in this French tournament (Marta Kostyuk and Bernarda Pera being the other two opponents), she has now reached her first semifinal of the season.

This will certainly do wonders for her confidence, especially ahead of the Slam starting next week. Pliskova has never made it past the semifinal in Paris while in her last four appearances there, she was beaten in the mid-rounds.

But that’s a problem to ponder upon later; the World No. 8 will hope to reach her first final since the Rogers Cup last year where she fell to Camila Giorgi in the trophy match. In fact, the top seed had reached the final in Wimbledon and Italian Open but had to settle for the runner-up trophy.

Juvan Knocks Out Mertens

Kaja Juvan has had a good run in Strasbourg so far. The Slovenian, without dropping a set, has reached the semis after dismissing Lina Glushko, Nefisa Berberović, and Elise Mertens.

This marks a rare semifinal for the current World No. 81 who has reached this stage only in the ITF and Challenger events.

So far in 2022, the 21-year-old Juvan has lost in the early rounds on the tour – with the exception of Adelaide International 1 where she made it as far as the quarterfinal. Most recently, she played in Madrid and Rome where she was defeated respectively in the qualifiers and first-round by Andrea Petkovic and Yulia Putintseva.

Juvan’s resume is also slim when it comes to beating top 10 players; the only win she has managed was over Aryna Sabalenka in January this year.

Pliskova v Juvan Prediction and Tip

This match has Pliskova written all over it. The 30-year-old has two Grand Slam finals, a plethora of big WTA titles, and some exceptional experience to her name.

She has been a regular part of the top 10 and now that she is back at the top of her game after recovering from her injury, there is no stopping her.

Tip: Pliskova to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
