Kei Nishikori v Benoît Paire Head to Head

The pair have met seven times before, with their current score in their head to head series five to two in favour of the Japanese. Perhaps tellingly though, Nishikori has won the lost three encounters, most recently in front of his home crowd in Tokyo last year where he beat his French opponent 6-3, 7-5.

Nishikori, Eyeing a Possible Federer Final

Nishikori as the number one seed will be confident of going far in Dubai, and will start the week knowing that, if the seedings go to plan, he will face Roger Federer in the final at the weekend.

He has actually swapped places with the Swiss in the world rankings since Melbourne, and is now six in the world as opposed to seventh, courtesy of the semi-final he achieved in Rotterdam two weeks ago, where he eventually lost out to Stan Wawrinka.

Nishikori would, however, know that if Federer wins this title, the rankings would flip again, which is why the Japanese player wouldn’t want to put the foot wrong to begin with at the very least.

Paire, A Replacement for Chung

Paire was not originally included in the field for the Dubai tournament, but was drafted in when Chung Hyeon of South Korea was forced to drop out through injury. Once ranked 18 in the world, he is now down at 57, reflecting the fact that his best days are behind him.

A somewhat unorthodox player on court who likes to entertain the crowd, he is unlikely to disturb Kishikori’s concentration, the Japanese player being one of the most focused men on court on the ATP tour.

Nishikori v Paire Predictions & Tips

Kishikori is the overwhelming favourite to win this match at 4/1 on. Paire is priced at 18/5 but, if the number one seed plays anywhere near his capability, it is hard to see beyond a straightforward win for him.

You can watch & bet on Kei Nishikori v Benoît Paire on Tuesday, February 26th. The match will is scheduled from 8 am BST onwards.
