Caroline Wozniacki v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head

The two ladies have met only twice on the tour and Wozniacki has been the victor on both occasions. They last met in the 2018 WTA Istanbul, where the Dane won comfortably with 6-2, 6-2.

Wozniacki’s Tryst with Illness

Wozniacki originally started this season as the World No. 3 but courtesy of a poor showing in the Australian Open and illness, she fell out of the top 10. Currently, she is in the 13th position.

Her first tournament of the year was in Auckland where she lost in the second round to the Canadian qualifier Bianca Andreescu. In Melbourne, she started as the defending champion but was knocked out by Maria Sharapova in the third round.

The Dane was set to participate in WTA Doha and Dubai but withdrew from the two tournaments owing to viral illness.

Wozniacki lacks the much-needed form to go the distance in Indian Wells Open. On the other hand, she has the experience that can very well come in handy as she moves to the later rounds. It all depends on how the two-time China Open winner fares against Alexandrova.

Alexandrova’s Decent Start to the Year

The 24-year-old Russian is heading into this fixture on the back of a couple of good runs in Budapest and St. Petersburg. In the first case, she reached the semifinal where she lost to Alison Van Uytvanck.

In St. Petersburg, she had a comparatively better showing. She started as a qualifier and made it as far as the quarterfinal.

Prior to this, the 2018 Linz Open runner-up never made it past the early rounds this year. As for her performance last season, she followed her runner-up feat in Linz with a winning run in the 125K Series event in Limoges, France.

Wozniacki v Alexandrova Predictions & Tips

While Alexandrova isn’t a player who is known to cause massive upsets and defeat top players, she will definitely fancy her chances here. Wozniacki lacks the momentum right now and that is something that the Russian can capitalise on. All in all, we have an interesting match in our hands here.

Tip: Match to have three sets: 6/4 (William Hill)
