Bianca Andreescu v Qiang Wang Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players.

Andreescu – A Rising Force on the Tour

The 18-year-old Andreescu has all the makings of a top player. She started this season outside the top 150 and within just two months or so, she has made it to the No. 60 position in the rankings.

She started the year in Auckland as a qualifier and made it to the main draw, going as far as the final. Even though she ultimately lost to Julia Goerges, she will always remember her breathtaking victories over Carolina Wozniacki and Venus Williams.

Bianca then followed this with a second-round showing in the Australian Open, once again as a qualifier. Later in the month, she won the 125K Series event in Newport Beach and most recently was a semifinalist in WTA Acapulco. Between these two events, the Canadian also won her Fed Cup ties against the Dutch side.

With 21 wins and only three defeats (including her stints in the qualifiers), Andreescu is undoubtedly among the most consistent players on the tour right now. She is getting better with every tournament and gaining the much-needed experience to excel on the circuit.

She has brought the same momentum to Indian Wells as well, defeating Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round and following it with straight-set victories over Dominika Cibulkova and Stefanie Vogele.

Wang’s Brilliant Run in Indian Wells

Wang recently became the World No. 18 – her best singles ranking yet. All of this, despite the fact that she didn’t have any remarkable stints on the tour, up until now.

In the Australian Open, she lost in the third round and followed it with a semifinal appearance in the 125K Series event in Indian Wells.

However, in the main tournament right now, she started with a bye into the second round. First, she moved past Bernarda Pera and then, she knocked out the in-form, mighty Elise Mertens with 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 6-3.

Wang had a breakthrough last season when she won two singles titles in Jiangxi and Guangzhou, along with reaching the final in WTA Hong Kong and WTA Elite Trophy.
