Jeremy Chardy v Nicolas Jarry Head to Head
The two have never met before – this will be the first encounter between the world number 35, Chardy, and the man ranked twelve places below him, Jarry.
Chardy – Needs to Translate Doubles Form to Singles
Chardy has lost the last five singles matches he has contested, going out in the second round in Montpelier, followed by first round exits in Rotterdam, Marseille and Indian Wells. Most recently, he lost at the first time of asking in the ITP Challenger event in Phoenix last week, despite being seeded second for the tournament.
He needs to start translating his doubles form to the singles arena, having already won two senior titles this year. He won the ATP doubles title in Rotterdam with Henri Kontinen, and then partnered Fabrice Martin to tournament victory in Marseille.
It must be said, however, that Chardy’s best career ranking is 25th, something he achieved in 2013. He has always been there and thereabouts since then but never quite achieved his early potential.
Jarry Having a Mixed Season
Jarry has enjoyed a mixed start to the year. He helped his country to Davis Cup success over Austria in February, but then suffered first round exits in Cordoba, Buenos Aires and Acapulco, He did pick up an encouraging win at Indian Wells against up and coming American Frances Tiafoe, but was thrashed by Britain’s Kyle Edmund in his next match there.
Like Chardy, he entered the ITP Challenger event in Phoenix, and did, at least, go further than the Frenchman, reaching the quarter-final stage.

Chardy will start the favourite for the match at 3/5, whilst you can get 13/10 on Jarry (bet365) . The Frenchman is favoured because of his superior world ranking – there is little else in his recent form to suggest he will enjoy any sort of sustained run in Florida.
