Caroline Wozniacki v Su-Wei Hsieh Head to Head

Wozniacki has won every single one of their past meetings and currently leads Hsieh by 4-0. They last met in Kuala Lumpur in 2015, where the Dane won in straight sets.

Hsieh Delivers a Stunning Upset

Hsieh, who lost her opening match in the Indian Wells Open a couple of weeks back, has delivered one of the best performances of her career so far in Miami. She reached the fourth round in this Premier Mandatory event after dispatching the likes of Alison Riske and the World No. 1 Naomi Osaka.

Her win against Osaka was highly impressive, as she fought for three sets and eventually won 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3.

There have been other instances too where Hsieh has been quite impressive. In WTA Dubai for instance, she reached the semifinal after defeating Angelique Kerber and Karolina Pliskova. She had a similar run in Auckland earlier this season too. However, between these two events, she lost her initial matches in every tournament she participated in.

Wozniacki Back to her Winning Ways

Even though the Dane hasn’t had an ideal start to the year, most notably owing to form and health struggles, it is certainly refreshing to see her back to her winning ways.

So far in Miami, the China Open winner is yet to drop a set. She has defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Monica Niculescu to reach the fourth round. Since the Australian Open, where she lost in the third round to Maria Sharapova, she played only in Indian Wells and there, she lost her opener to Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Wozniacki is certainly a talented player with 30 singles titles and a former World No. 1 ranking. Now that she appears to be fit once more, she is slowly building her form and getting back to her former self.

Caroline Wozniacki v Su-Wei Hsieh Tips and Predictions:

On one hand, Wozniacki will start this match as the favourite to win, at least on paper. She is superior to Hsieh in every way except her recent form – something that will prove to be a deciding factor in this match. Hsieh has already proven that she can take on the big guns and defeat them.

This is Wozniacki’s first real test in Miami and it will be interesting to see how she fares here.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 17/20 (William Hill)
