Who is Playing on Day 1 of US Open 2020?
Both the singles top seeds in the competitions, Djokovic and Pliskova will take to court on day one of the competition. Djokovic, who is bidding to continue with his winning run this season, having yet to lose a match will take on Bosnian Damir Dzumhur in the first round.
On the other hand, Pliskova’s form has taken a bit of a dent but can she can be expected to get past Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine, who is ranked way beyond the top 100 on the WTA charts.
Also playing on the opening day are Alexander Zverev who takes on the comeback man Kevin Anderson of South Africa, and Stefanos Tsitipas, another of the Next-Gen stars expected to overcome Albert Ramos-Vinolas in his opener. Naomi Osaka’s injury is an obvious concern but if she can regain her fitness, her countrywoman Misaki Doi should be no match for her.
Former US Open winner Angelique Kerber, two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and Belgium’s David Goffin will be some of the others in action on Monday.
