Stefanos Tsitsipas v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head
Tsitsipas and Hurkacz have already played each other twice in their respective short careers and the Greek has won both times. Interestingly, these two matches have come within a couple of months of the tennis seasons with Tsitsipas first beating his Polish opponent at the Gen-Next Finals last season before overpowering him last week at the Marseille Open in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-final.
Form’s Back for Tsitsipas?
There was that worry that Tsitispas’ game had fallen in intensity since that defeat of Roger Federer in the Australian Open fourth round match, with tough win against Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-final and a shock crushing loss to Rafael Nadal in the semis following that.
At the Sofia Open, which was his next stop following the Australian Open, Tsitsipas scraped through his first round match before going down to Gael Monfils and then lost to Damir Dzumhur in the Rotterdam Open opener.

However, things look to have been put to place by the world number 11, as he went on to win the 2019 Marseille Open with wins over David Goffin and Mikhail Kukushkin in the process.
Here in Dubai, he started off slowly, needing three sets to overcome Matthew Ebden but then crushed Egor Gerasimov in the second round to seal his quarter-final berth with some ease.
Getting the Eye in at the Highest Level, Hurkacz
22-year-old Hurkacz is one of the taller players around and a Next Gen player from 2018 where he defeated Jaume Munar. Losses against Frances Tiafoe and Tsitsipas followed and there was a first round exit at the Pune Open earlier this year.
However, a win at the Canberra Challenger would have given him some confidence and while there was opening round defeats at the Australian Open and Montpellier Open, he finally registered his first ATP-level win of the year in Marseille.
A win against low-ranked Corentin Moutet was always on the cards here in Dubai but to have shocked the top seeded Kei Nishikori should not just be a shot in the arm for the Pole, it should also give Tsitsipas something to ponder about.
Stefanos Tsitsipas v Hubert Hurkacz Predictions & Tips
It comes as no surprise that Tsitsipas is overwhelming favourite to win this, with Unibet offering 11/50 for his win as compared to 7/2 (bet365) for a Hurkacz victory. The total games market is a better one to look at though, as we believe Tsitsipas should win this anyway and in straight sets too.
Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 11/10 (bet365)
