Aryna Sabalenka v Lesia Tsurenko Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once on the tour and that meeting took place in the WTA Hobart. Tsurenko won that match to take an early 1-0 lead in the head-to-head tally.

With a win-loss record of 12-4 and one singles title, the Belarusian’s start to the season is indeed among the best on the WTA Tour. She started off with a winning run in WTA Shenzhen, where she lifted the third singles trophy of her career.
This was then followed by her below-average performance in Australia, where she failed to move past the initial rounds in Sydney and Melbourne. However, she made up for it in St. Petersburg where she was a semifinalist. Sabalenka also won both of her matches in the Fed Cup against Germany.
She made her debut in the top 10 earlier this season. The number 9 seed laid the groundwork last year, winning two singles titles (Connecticut and Wuhan) and reaching the final Lugano and Eastbourne.
Tsurenko Starts with a Tough Win
Tsurenko’s opening match in Indian Wells was against the American wildcard Jessica Pegula, whom she had to defeat 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
The Ukranian will be looking to deliver a better performance here in comparison to her last two events in Dubai and Doha. Interestingly enough, she was knocked out be Simona Halep in both the cases in early rounds.
However, she has many reasons to be cheerful at the same time. She is a part of the top 30 – a feat she never managed to achieve before. Furthermore, she had a sensational run in WTA Brisbane where she was a runner-up. In the same tournament, she also managed to defeat the World No. 1 Naomi Osaka.

While Sabalenka will start this match as the favourite, she will be cautious of the threat that Tsurenko is. Despite her consistency and recent form, she is not among the most invincible player on the tour and can very well be pushed to the limits by the Ukranian.
